Methodology
Clearly identify the categories
We want to recognise the contributions made by individuals, families as well as organisations towards social causes. We understand that giving is more than just money; it is also giving of time, skill and expertise as well as mentoring and inspiring others to give. We are also aware that a huge diaspora is quietly giving back to India. The themes for the categories are drawn keeping all these factors in mind.
Define objective and qualitative criteria for each category
This is done with the help of GiveIndia, one of India’s best known professionally run not for profit organization and our knowledge partners.
Build a long-list of nominations
The entire Forbes India editorial team is involved in building the initial long-list. Our senior editors and GiveIndia lead the nomination process in each category and take responsibility for due diligence. Extensive research is done on each nomination. To improve participation we open up three categories for seeking external nominations.
Arrive at a short-list in a two-step process
The Forbes India Senior Editors and GiveIndia finally pick about ten nominees based on a set of profiles and data. After another round of vetting, we pick the top five nominations based on an internal debate.
Jury meeting
The final stage of selection will be through a jury meeting . They will select one winner in each of the eight categories.
Awards Ceremony
The winners will be felicitated at a ceremony to be held in Mumbai.
