An alliance is cemented
The sound of shehnais fills the air again. Next up to trudge the seven circles is Nidhi Binani, elder daughter of Braj Binani, of the eponymous group. Nidhi who, after a stint in textile marketing in London, had worked with dad, leading marketing efforts in East India and Africa, had recently joined the board. She will, however, be taking a break.
Husband-to-be Anirudh Singhania (of the family that once owned LML), is taking a sabbatical, and going to Wharton for two years. He takes his studies seriously. For one, he didn’t jump into the family business, preferring to go to LSE after St Stephen’s, then work for Edelweiss. Mr. Binani is impressed; the stripling has been asking him some tough questions about the business, and the patriarch had admitted they were good ones. So, yes, Nidhi will come back as a full time director, and it looks like the Binanis might just be adding another seat to the board as well as to the dining table.
