Modifications
BK Modi is making quite a splash in Singapore. He recently bought the penthouse suite in The Sail, one of the ten tallest residential buildings in the world, in Marina Bay. His new 63rd floor pied-à-terre (“pie-in-the-sky” is more appropriate, wethinks) has a wrap-around view of Singapore and the bay, a lap pool and a terrace garden. Modi bought it for $10.75 million, and, we hear, spent another two mill tarting it up. “Quite over-the-top, typical nouveau riche apartment,” our source said, sniffily. “Modi is new to Singapore and he just wants to make some noise and say he’s arrived.” Modi’s upcoming Singapore projects include a Hollywood-meets-Bollywood entertainment centre, by the way. He also has two films in the works; one of them, No Problem (dir: Aness Bazmee), will star Anil Kapoor, and will be shot entirely in Merlion-land. Perhaps the Stubbled One will visit. Then chez Modi will move up to a one-star rating.
