Chottelal, a native of Narhet village, Thanagazi, is one of the 125 weavers who have made the crossover from “BPL to APL”. Earlier he used to weave carpets for barely Rs 50-60 day. Now he earns more than Rs 100 a day by weaving carpets for Jaipur Rugs. “Plus, I get paid on time now,” he says. Today he has a pukka house, which he built by taking a loan of Rs 1 lakh. He pulled his kids out of the government school and admitted them to a private school – for a fee of Rs 100 per child. He now has access to health insurance and the family has savings in a bank account.
