Letter From The Editor: Leaders With the Power to Transform

What's refreshing is that none of these leaders are deterred by the wobbles in the larger India growth story. Instead, they're entirely focussed on shaping the future

I’m pleased to announce that our flagship property, the Forbes India Leadership Awards (FILA), just turned two. The edition you hold in your hands is meant to celebrate this special occasion.

Letter From The Editor: Leaders With the Power to Transform
Work on this special project started with clockwork precision several months ago, and was anchored by my colleague and Associate Editor Cuckoo Paul. This time, she had ample support from KPMG, our knowledge partners for this project and the entire Forbes India editorial team pitched in to help build a strong shortlist of five nominees across the 10 award categories. They were thoroughly vetted on every dimension, before a stellar jury chaired by KV Kamath, chairman, ICICI Bank and Infosys, eventually spent an afternoon in Mumbai, picking out the 10 winners.

You can catch a sneak peek of the winners on page 37. But before that, a quick word about the awards. All the 10 award categories reflect themes that this magazine has been passionately driving ever since we launched this Indian edition more than three years ago. Entrepreneurial capitalism lies at the core of the Forbes DNA. And the entire entrepreneurial spectrum, from startups to established firms, is our stomping ground. Over the years, our writers and editors have made it their habit to call out the winners, well before others have spotted them. That’s why you are likely to find that many of the shortlisted nominees and eventual winners may have graced the pages of this magazine earlier.

Yet their individual stories will remain fresh and engaging. That’s because we’ve used a special lens to look at each of them. More on that once you dive into our special package inside. There are some fabulous stories of transformational leadership nestled inside this package. What’s refreshing is that none of these leaders are deterred by the wobbles in the larger India growth story. Instead, they’re entirely focussed on shaping the future in the only way they know.

It is often said that the best leaders inspire us to be what we know we can be. And they force us to dream more, learn more, do more, and become more. The 10 winners do all of that—and more.

Do let me know what you think of this special edition. As usual, I’ll be waiting to hear from you.

Best,
