ou’ve left it too late to book tickets to Johannesburg for the World Cup finals. The hotels are booked, and there’s no way you can make it over there. Don’t worry. You can still make July 11 very special, right in your backyard. Well, it’s not your backyard, per se, you have to take a trip to Ladakh. The roads to Ladakh have been open for over a month now. That means people from all over the world are exploring the mountain city even as this goes into print.

Every four years, when the football finals are on, you’ll see giant white screens come up at one of the highest places on earth. You have people from all nationalities cheering the finalists. Oh, and the Ladakh Confluence — an eclectic mix of poets, musicians, singers and dancers —  is scheduled from July 15-18. Lose yourself in sports and music while you sip yak butter tea. Or the local beer. It doesn’t get better than this.

Ya! Ladakh indeed such a place where one can take the advantage of heaven on this earth. It is quite in the lap of Nature.
