The Confederation of Indian Industry (CII), a non-governmental trade association, announced on Sunday that 56-year-old Shobana Kamineni, executive vice-chairperson of Apollo Hospitals Enterprises Ltd (AHEL), is the industry association’s new President for the year 2017-18. She takes over from Dr Naushad Forbes, co-chairman, Forbes Marshall Limited.
Uday Kotak, executive vice chairman and managing director, Kotak Mahindra Bank Limited is the new Vice President of CII. Kotak is the Co-Chair of the India-UK Financial Partnership (IUKFP) with Sir Gerry Grimstone as the other Co-Chair. It was also announced that Rakesh Bharti Mittal, vice chairman, Bharti Enterprises, is the new President Designate of CII.
Kamineni, who is the third daughter of AHEL’s founder and chairman Dr Prathap Reddy, helms the Apollo Global Projects Consultancy, which steers the planning, design and execution of new projects at AHEL. Besides, she heads the Apollo Pharmacy business which constitutes 45 percent of AHEL’s turnover. Kamineni is also the vice-chairperson of the KEI Group, a diversified logistics, leisure and infrastructure company.
