What is Microsoft Worth?

When Steve ballmer announced last month he’d be quitting as CEO of Microsoft, its stock was trading at little more than half its adjusted 1999 peak. Maybe the way to finally get shareholders more value is to do voluntarily what the Feds never could: Break up the company. Here’s what, on the high end, Goldman Sachs analyst Heather Bellini thinks Microsoft could be worth in pieces: $340 billion, or $40 a share, a 21 percent premium over its recent price of $33.

I am a huge fan of bill gates .it's surprising and shocking news for me to believe that only 4% of whole worth of microsoft is by entertainment though the people around the world are most familiar with Microsoft and brand recognition is known to everyone .....why can't they work on it is a million $ question...........

A joint family of 6 people including grandfather grandmother father mother sister and myself living in a house of 6 rooms and all beautiful facilities when prospering we shifted to 16 room house with much additional facilities but no addition in family members. what happened to our family in new house. they were far apart and it was much difficult to manage the house than before difficult to maintain the house and also difficult to search family members in such big house. Compare it with a hotel nicely maintained and cared rooms and common management looking after all affairs each room being profit centre and cost centre given on lease or self maintained on rent with all facilities but each facility being made cost and profit centre thus giving everyone oppurtunity to grow rather than being getting mismanaged when grown big. Its time for Microsoft to spin off to create value it has to come out of aura of bill gates it has to make its own identity with successful business models. when grown too big more time is devoted in managing affairs which increase cost and reduce innovation. Perfect time for Microsoft to be 5 companies than being one company.
