Celebrity 100 List Methdology: How We Crunch The Numbers
The Celebrity 100 ranking is based on two parameters: 1) Estimates of entertainment-related earnings and 2) Estimates of fame. The period under consideration for both is October 1, 2011 to September 30, 2012.

How We Calculated Earnings: For each celebrity, we got independent estimates from multiple sources—industry insiders including talent management agencies, film and TV producers, publishers, music industry professionals, sports consultants, advertising agencies, brand marketers, celebrity managers and other relevant experts.

How We Calculated Fame: We tracked their media visibility across print, television and the internet. We used Google to estimate online exposure, Facebook fans and Twitter followers. Our principal data partners Percept Talent Management, LexisNexis and TAM-Eikona helped provide data for Celeb endorsements as well on print and TV exposure. We were also supported by indiantelevision.com, Carving Dreams, tellychakkar.com and Nielsen Book Scan for data gathering process.
The entire process was verified by Ernst & Young, our official tabulators.

Note: The ranking in this list is based on estimates of earnings and media visibility of each celebrity across print, television and online media from October 1, 2011 to September 30, 2012. The numbers are, therefore, not accurate but merely indicative. While experts have been engaged to draw estimates of earnings and assess media visibility though various sources, Forbes India Magazine or Digital18 Media Private Limited takes no responsibility for their accuracy.

Hi Kris, The reason Rajnikanth isn\'t on the list is because he didn\'t do any films or endorsements during our time period. While his fame score was high, it wasn\'t high enough to make up for zero revenue. In fact, we have an article exploring which southern star may some day take his throne: http://forbesindia.com/article/2012-celebrity-100/who-will-inherit-rajinikanths-throne/34621/1

this list is put together rather poorly and without proper insight seems that the research team was paying attention to only one type of media, esha gupta makes it but likes of kamal, rajni does not, also clubbing earnings and fame is lame when a celebrity power list is put.

I agree with the top few in the list.... But there are so many other celebrities who are popular nationally and regionally... also who makes far more money than most of the people in the list.... This list should be created based separately one by fame and the other by money... Not impressive at all , compare to other Forbes listings.
