1) Shah Rukh Khan
In 2012, Shah Rukh Khan, dubbed by the Los Angeles Times in 2011 the world's biggest movie star, teamed up with fellow actors Shahid Kapoor and Ajay Devgn to support Cosmopolitan's “Real men don’t hit women” campaign against domestic violence. SRK also adopted 12 villages to provide them with electricity under the TERI project ‘Light a Billion Lives’ in 2012.  For his concern for humanity and creativity, Yale University honoured him with the Chubb Fellow Award

2) Salman Khan
Besides his on-screen exploits, Salman Khan has been at the forefront of several philanthropic ventures.While his Being Human brand opened its flagship store in Mumbai early this year (a share of its profits is directed towards charity), the foundation has donated close to Rs 7.5 crore and helped about 2,500 people by paying for their medical and hospital expenses

 

3) Akshay Kumar
Akshay Kumar is known for donating money for various causes as well as being portrayed by the income tax department as a model for tax compliance. He was the top taxpayer in Bollywood for the last financial year and with two superhits under his belt, looks set to repeat the feat

4) Amitabh Bachchan
In 2012, Amitabh Bachchan received the Apsara Awards [Guild honour For excellence on TV for Kaun Banega Crorepati] and 'FICCI Frames 2012' Excellence Awards for maximum impact made by a Personality. Bachchan was also in the news when he was chosen to carry the Olympic torch in London 

5) Kareena Kapoor
In 2012, Maxim named her “India’s hottest woman”. Two hit item numbers from the biggest blockbusters of 2012 – Rowdy Rathore and Dabangg 2 – justified the title. Kareena Kapoor continues to be among the most expensive actresses in Bollywood with a list of endorsements including Sony, Philips, Lavie, Head & Shoulders, and Vivel. She is expected to feature in two movies in 2013

6) Katrina Kaif
Katrina Kaif, who has been on a roll for several years now, is expected to make it large with Dhoom 3 and Dostana 2, which are expected to release in 2013. She is involved in several charity events and supports an orphanage in Madurai

 

7) Ranbir Kapoor
The youngest actor from the first family of Indian cinema excelled in 2012 when Barfi! was selected as India's official entry for the Best Foreign Language Film nomination for the 85th Academy Awards. Though it failed to make the final cut, Ranbir Kapoor's career is on an upswing with three releases planned in 2013 

8) Aamir Khan
While Aamir Khan did not have a single film in the time period we are mapping, he more than made up fir it with his superhit TV show Satyamev Jayate. The show made him the highest-paid TV star, with an earning of Rs 3 crore per episode. The actor was also featured on the cover of Time magazine for taking up social issues

9) Priyanka Chopra
Priyanka Chopra tasted commercial success in two of her three movies in 2012. Agneepath and Barfi! both crossed the Rs 100 crore mark, with the former making a Bollywood record of highest opening day collections.She also debuted as a singer with "In My City", featuring Will.i.am, becoming a commercial success in India

 

10) Saif Ali Khan
After the death of his father in 2011, Saif Ali Khan was crowned the 10th Nawab of Pataudi. His last home production Agent Vinod bombed at the box office, but he has his hands full in 2013 with Abbas Mustan's Race 2 and Bullet Raja, a film by Tigmanshu Dhulia
